Handmade Soap Supplies
Making homemade soap was once an important skill from the past. In grandmother's day, collecting all the handmade soap supplies was just one of the duties before making a fresh batch of soap. The joy of making soap has become a modern day pleasure that energizes the will to gather the few soap supplies needed to make a healthy soap.
A natural benefit to making your own soap is that you don't have to wonder what chemicals have been put in a the factory. All modern soaps are the result of a chemical process called saponification. This reaction causes the proper blending of lye and fats. Industrial processing includes other possible irritants like isopropyl alcohol, BHT, and butylated hydroxytoluene. These chemicals are hard to pronounce let alone understand what they mean. Keep in mind that as synthetic chemicals, they can be irritants to the skin.
One major benefit of homemade soap is that it is made with very few ingredients. Plain lye soap has only the simplest natural oils and natural fragrances. Handmade soap is said to relieve the symptoms of acne, rosacea and psoriasis. The purpose of hand soap or cleanser is to remove the bacteria and toxins from the surface of the skin. It is the soapy lather that traps the dirt in the suds. The process of rinsing slides the pathogens off the hands and down the drain. Those who react to different types of ingredients may find relief with handmade soap simply because there are so few additives in the end product.
Kits are available for the less adventurous who has no desire to hunt for handmade soap supplies. The following is a list of soap supplies to make a batch of homemade soap. Soap recipes are simple and require the same basic ingredients; water, fat and lye are the foundation of any soap recipe. The internet is a great place to start to learn the exact process to make homemade soap. One of the simplest recipes listed only has Crisco, oil, lye and distilled water.
Before beginning the soap making experience, it is advised to allow at least two hours of uninterrupted time. Always lay out the handmade soap supplies so you don't have to stop and go hunt for a missing item in the middle of making the batch.
The following are important soap supplies to have on hand. Always start out with safety glasses and rubber gloves. These are necessary for this project. A stainless-steel pot will be needed to heat the oils (make sure it is stain-less steel and not aluminum. Lye reacts negatively with aluminum), large heatproof measuring cup, separate rubber spatulas. One is needed for the lye and one for the lye/fat mixture as well as plastic measuring utensils. Create a plastic food-storage container or other container that will hold the soap until solid. Use an old comforter or blanket to insulate the soap.
Depending on what type of soap you want to end up with, additives add a personal touch. Oatmeal or seeds can be used for an exfoliate soap. Use other handmade soap supplies can be used as personalized additives. These include fragrance or coloring. Have a special place to keep soap supplies all in one spot and enjoy the adventure of making your own soap.

Need a name for a brand of shorts?
Hey all, I'm Rose and i live in England. I'm 15 and i am setting up a brand of shorts for ages of 12-about 25 maybe even older, but whoever wants to buy them. I am buying some denim shorts and styling them by distressing them, ripping them, dying them and studding them, and possibly sewing on to them. I would really like your help on choosing a good name that sounds modern and memorable, and something that appeals to people.
Some ideas i had were;
high-wasted
high-waisted
young folks
we♥short
all that she wants
shorts&studs
life is too short
too shorts
urban apparel
gorgeous things
dressed in distressed
untitled
handmade apparel
hawt apparel
we aren't so different
denim, fashion, ripped
short&sweet
vintage closet
superficial appearance
shorts&beautiful
what do you see?
english rose
...................
please write down any names you have thought of, it would help a lot, or if you like any of those names please tell me , thank you so much guys
I'll tell you my top five favorite names and then give you some suggestions of my own
1. we♥short -- I think that this is cute. It's like teenager-y young adult-y haha, perfect for the age group you're selling to.
2. all that she wants -- This is kind of mysterious and it makes your shorts seem super fancy
love it!
3. dressed in distressed -- Normally I think rhyming names are kind of cheesy, but I love this. However it makes it seem like all of your shorts will be distressed which may be something you don't want.
4. short&sweet -- I love the fun play on an old saying. Your motto can be 'the price is short and sweet too' or something ![]()
5. english rose -- This is very cute considering your name is Rose and you're from England, even if you expand to America and other countries eventually, they'll be like "Oh cool, I have the latest styles from London!" lol. We Americans love Brits
Some of my ideas:
1. Design Queen (get it -- because England has a queen
and you're the queen of your own company!)
2. Shortstop (kind of has a baseball feel to it, but it's shorts)
3. Dazzle (so people know they dazzle people when they're wearing your shorts!)
4. Dream (I don't know, this just seems like a cute and simple name, like Selena Gomez's Dream Out Loud line)
5. Peace, Love, Shorts (I don't know if you're selling to guys too, but this is a sweet girly name)
One note: Be sure to credit the company you buy the shorts from, like Mossimo Supply Co., Aeropostale, etc.
Also, I think it's so cool that you're only 15 and you have like a business! Hope it all goes well for you
